The Obermaubach reservoir in the Rur valley is a popular destination close to the hotel. The marked loop trail (no. 43) goes all the way around the lake. You will also find viewing terraces along the Dammkronenstraße, boat trips, a forest playground, a nature trail about forest and water, and the highest fish ladder in North Rhine-Westphalia at the dam. Restaurants and cafés are close by.
The RurUfer cycle route follows the river Rur from its source in the Hohes Venn (Belgium) through Germany to where it joins the Maas at Roermond (Netherlands). The hotel lies in the Rur valley and makes a good stop for stages along the river.
A popular, romantic Christmas market at Merode Castle in Langerwehe. It takes place during Advent; please check dates and admission with the organiser.
The well-known theme park in Brühl is a day out for the whole family. Opening hours and tickets are on the park's website.
The weather-independent family park at Bubenheim Castle near Nörvenich has indoor and outdoor areas: adventure playground, adventure golf, play halls, climbing, slides, water play, trampolines and a go-kart track. In winter (7 November 2026 to 6 January 2027) it is open at weekends and during the Christmas holidays from 10 am to 6 pm, and closed on 24, 25 and 26 December and on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
